Lake Tahoe Shakespeare tickets now on sale
Capturing the spirit of summer in Reno-Tahoe, tickets for the 2009 Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, slated July 11 – Aug. 23, 2009, are now available for online purchase at www.LakeTahoeShakespeare.com. Celebrating its 37th season, the festival brings summer audiences the comedy of Shakespeare’s deliciously scandalous “Measure for Measure,” the hilariously scheming duos of “Much Ado About Nothing” and the premiere of a world music concert series featuring rotating artists each Monday night. As a special “Early Bard” offer, patrons who purchase a minimum of two tickets for the festival’s July 11 – 31 performances before Jan. 31 qualify for first purchasing rights to the ever-popular full moon performance Aug. 6, and final curtain performances of the plays, Aug. 22 – 23.
“The summer season comes alive with the festival that serves as a cornerstone of summer events at Lake Tahoe,” said Catherine Atack, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. “The festival provides audiences the unique combination of a stunning lakeside location, gourmet food and drink services provided by Shakespeare’s Kitchen and performances seven nights a week throughout the six-week schedule. Focusing on the rich humor of this season’s comedic performances, our hope is to provide festival-goers with a lighthearted escape and a refreshing outdoor setting to spend time recharging with friends and family. We look forward to welcoming back our loyal fans and introducing first-timers to the magic that is summer at the lake.”
An established source of entertainment for residents and visitors in the Reno-Tahoe area, the festival aims to educate audiences on theatre and the arts while supporting and utilizing the region’s talent base. One of the largest and more established nonprofit agencies within the Parasol Community Collaboration (PCC), a collaboration of more than 50 nonprofit entities, the festival is committed to encouraging volunteerism and community involvement within the organization.
